How I Built MusAIcal Chickens – From Tired Dad to AI Children's Music Creator

If you'd told me a few years ago that I'd be writing silly songs about chickens for tens of thousands of subscribers, I'd have laughed.

Yet here we are.

I'm Simon, the creator behind MusAIcal Chickens, and what started as a fun creative project has grown into a YouTube channel with over 60,000 subscribers, hundreds of original songs, and a growing audience of families who simply enjoy having a laugh together.

Like many parents, life is busy. Between work, family life and trying to keep energetic kids entertained, finding time for creative projects isn't easy. But I've always loved writing, music and making people smile.

The idea behind MusAIcal Chickens was surprisingly simple.

What if I could create original, funny, family-friendly songs that children would love, parents wouldn't get tired of hearing, and everyone could dance along to?

Why Chickens?

People often ask why I chose chickens.

The honest answer is that chickens are funny.

They're expressive, a little chaotic and surprisingly relatable. They don't take themselves too seriously, which perfectly matches the type of music I wanted to create.

From the very beginning, I wasn't interested in creating another generic children's music channel.

I wanted to build a world full of memorable characters, ridiculous adventures and catchy songs that would leave both children and adults smiling.

Using AI Without Losing Creativity

One question I hear a lot is whether AI writes my songs.

The answer is no.

Every song starts with a human idea.

I write the concepts, develop the jokes, shape the lyrics and decide the message I want each song to share. AI helps me bring those ideas to life more efficiently, but it doesn't replace creativity.

For me, AI is a creative tool rather than a shortcut.

It allows me to spend more time imagining new characters, writing stories and producing more music than would have been possible on my own.

Building a Recognisable Brand

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that people don't just subscribe to songs.

They subscribe to brands.

Every thumbnail, every video and every character is designed to feel like it belongs in the same universe.

When someone sees one of my chickens appear in their YouTube feed, I want them to recognise it immediately.

That consistency has become one of the biggest strengths of MusAIcal Chickens.

Uploading Consistently

If there's one piece of advice I'd give to anyone starting a YouTube channel, it's this:

Keep creating.

Perfection is the enemy of progress.

Over time, I've published hundreds of videos, experimenting with different musical styles, jokes, stories and characters. Some songs perform better than others, but every upload teaches me something new.

The more I create, the more I understand what my audience enjoys.

Learning YouTube Along the Way

Growing a YouTube channel isn't just about making videos.

I've had to learn about:

  • YouTube SEO

  • Thumbnail design

  • Video titles

  • Audience retention

  • YouTube Shorts

  • Storytelling

  • Character branding

  • Search trends

Every upload is another opportunity to improve.

Some of my best-performing videos weren't the ones I expected, and that's one of the exciting parts of being a creator.

Thinking Beyond YouTube

Although MusAIcal Chickens started on YouTube, I've always wanted it to become more than just a channel.

Today the music is available on streaming platforms, and I'm constantly exploring new ways to expand the brand.

I'd love to create:

  • Children's books

  • Colouring books

  • Educational resources

  • Classroom music

  • Dance routines

  • Merchandise

  • Interactive stories

The chickens have become much bigger than I originally imagined.

Why Family-Friendly Music Matters

One thing I never wanted to compromise on was making music parents could trust.

Every lyric is carefully checked to make sure it's suitable for children.

The goal has always been simple:

Create songs that families can enjoy together.

If parents are smiling while their children are dancing, I've done my job.

What's Next?

MusAIcal Chickens is still growing, and I still have more ideas than I have hours in the day.

There are plenty more songs to write, more adventures for the chickens to go on, and lots of new ways to use AI as a creative partner without losing the human touch.

I'm excited to see where the journey goes next.

If you've discovered MusAIcal Chickens through YouTube, Spotify or this website, thank you for being part of the adventure.

Who knew a bunch of musical chickens could bring so many smiles?

Why I'm Sharing This Journey

One of the unexpected joys of building MusAIcal Chickens has been connecting with other creators. I regularly hear from parents, teachers and people curious about AI who ask how I make the music, where the ideas come from or how the channel has grown.

That's one of the reasons I started this blog.

I'll be sharing what I've learned about writing children's songs, building an AI-assisted creative workflow, growing a YouTube channel and turning a simple idea into a recognisable family brand. My hope is that by being open about the process, I can help others create something original of their own.

After all, MusAIcal Chickens began with one simple idea, a bit of curiosity and a willingness to give it a go. If my story encourages someone else to start creating, then that's another success in my book.
